Canopy 12-15 m with abundant Coccoloba sp., frequent Bursera simaruba, Pouteria campechiana, Guazuma ulmifolia, Ficus sp., Citharexylum sp. & Thrinax radiata with a dense understory of abundant Picramnia antidesma & frequent Psychotria sp. Canopy 12-15 m with abundant Coccoloba sp., frequent Bursera simaruba, Pouteria campechiana, Guazuma ulmifolia, Ficus sp., Citharexylum sp. & Thrinax radiata with a dense understory of abundant Picramnia antidesma & frequent Psychotria sp. Light green new leaves, grey bark, flowers with green perianth and white stamens. Woody savannah. Grass, Malpighia glabra, Cameraria latifolia, Bucida buceras. Site 8 17° 46° 02.94" N 88° 28° 21.18" W (WGS84) Open woody savanna with scattered pine; with abundant Logwood (2-5 m), frequent Eugenia sp (2.5 m) & Jacquinia sp (1.5 m), occasional Myrica cerifera (1.5 m), Camareria latifolia (3-5 m) providing 5%. Herb layer 70% sedges and 30% grasses together providing 40% ground cover with large patches of bare sandy soil and algal mats. Evidence of recent inundation, and some past burning. Canopy 16-20m, growing in association with Calophyllum brasiliense, Bursera simaruba & Metopium brownei. Altitude: 10m Shallow leaf litter, heavy brown soil over limestone bedrock, >36 yrs since farming. 18.2m tall tree, 15cm dbh with grey, cracked and brittle bark.
