Habitat: Common in shade on medium ground in a woodland on a gentle hillside with Polystichum munitum, Sequoia sempervirens, Clintonia sp., Vaccinium sp. and Mahonia sp. Greenwoods
Description: From an evergreen shrub to 14m x 7m, leaves oblong-elliptic dark green above and light green below margins entire to 14cm x 5cm, fruit a cylindrical capsule light brown in colour to 1cm x .8cm.
