Habitat: Common in semi shade on a dry stony steep North East facing hillside of dense mixed woodland with Pinus koraiensis, Abies nephrolepis, Betula dahurica and Acer caudatum ssp. ukurunduense.
Description: Deciduous shrub to 3m x 3M with elliptic leaves to 5cm x 3cm, light green and glossy above, light green and dull below, margin entire. Fruit a green cylindrical capsule to 0.7cm x 0.4cm.
