Habitat: In mixed evergreen forest of Douglas fir, white fir, ponderosa pine, tan oak, snowbush, dogwood, hazelnut and big-leaf maple
Description: Shrub with long scandent stems ascending to 4m or more, stems layering, forming thickets, both male and female plants present, occasional male cones with pollen, female cones with seed but mostly without fleshy aril, one with pale yellowish aril
