Collecting locality: Japan:Nagano:Fujiui town. Fukisawa population.
Latitude: 35°56'51''N, Longitude: 138°19'12''E
Habitat: South-west facing slope in an area of forest c.50 years old, which recolonised after a very destructive typhoon (pers. Comm. T.Katsuki). Dense forest dominated by Quercus crispula and Larix kaempfer - the latter seeding in from surrounding plantations. Also with Abies veitchii var. veitchii, Betula ermanii, Sorbus japonica. Rhododendron molle ssp. japonicum and Aconitum sp. abundant in the understorey.
Description: Spreading shrub to c.1.5m x 1.5m.
