Habitat: Distrubed forest near waterfall.
Description: Clump-forming herb up to 2.5 m tall. Rhizome dirty purple, strong lemongrass smell. 39-42 leaves/pseudostem; 1/3 base of pseudostem leafless. Lamina gradually smaller towards tip of pseudostem. Peduncle 16 cm long, spike 9x4 cm, with 8 peduncular bracts. Bracts bright red. Flower open c. 1-2 pm. Bracts and bracteoles cream at base red at apex. Corolla lobes, mid-lobe of labellum, floral tube & young fruit cream. Lateral lobes of labellum violet with cream dots. Seeds dark purple to black with translucent white aril.
