Habitat: Secondary forest.
Description: Terrestrial herb. Leafy shoot to 3.8 m long, neighbouring shoots to 50 cm apart. Sheath reticulate, pale green. Ligule to 7 mm long. Petiole to 2.5 cm long. Lamina to 40 x 13 cm, not plicate; base truncate. Inflorescence from rhizome or base, to 12 cm long. Peduncle subterranean, to 5.5 cm long; bracts pale brown. Spike 7.5 x 2.5 cm, with 36 flowers, 6 open at a time; bracts cream to pale green, margin pale red. Bracteole membranous pale brown. Calyx pale pink with red-brown apex. Corolla lobes pale pink. Staminal tube pink. Labellum pale pink with pink lateral lobes. Stamen pale pink. Stigma pink. Infructescence with 2 fruits, red, spiny: spines in rows. [=2801, 2802]
