Habitat: Steep north-facing slopes north of the summit of Mt Tsurugi. Forest dominated by Tsuga sieboldii, Abies homolepis and Betula ermanii. Sorbus commixta and Acer sieboldianum frequent. The understorey is overwhelmingly dominated by Sasa sp.
Description: Young tree to c.8m tall.
