Description: Clump-forming herb, 0.65-1 m tall, all parts foetid when bruised. Sheaths dark purplish green with white indumentum. Leaves 13-15 per pseudostem, dark green, petiole and ligule pale green. Inflorescence terminal, erect. Flowers smelling foetid. Bracts glossy, dark green where exposed, pale green where covered; bracteoles pale green, hyaline. Calyx pale green, hyaline; corolla pale yellow, lip dark purple with a few yellow dots and a yellow patch in throat; lateral staminodes pale yellow, sometimes with a few dark red spots; anther pale yellow, crest dark purple.
