Habitat: Grassy banks at roadside
Description: Plants in full flower, unripe fruit and sparingly in ripe fruit. Leaves dark green and spotted dark purplish above, pale green beneath, with a purplish-green midrib. Outer phyllaries recurved both in flower-bud and in flower, inner phyllaries adpressed, simple (not gibbous or appendaged) at the dark purple apex. Corolla yellow, striped dark purple beneath in the outer florets. Style and its two recoiled branches brownsih-yellow. Fruit receptacle flattish-convex. Achenes brown.
Miscellaneous notes: Native. This plant had one capitulum in flower on 7th March 1927
