Habitat: Mixed forest of Abies, Picea , Salix and Populus with Sorbus, Salix, Berberis, Piptanthus in understory. Thickets on slope along road.
Description: Shrubs to ca. 2.25 m tall; mature stems pale reddish brown; young stems reddish; leaves abaxially pale green, papillose, adaxially dull mid green; fruit solitary, green turning red; seeds 2--4.
