Description: Plants in full flower, unripe fruit and sparingly in ripe fruit. Leaves dull green and not spotted or slightly spotted dark purplish above, pale green beneath, with a green or purplish-green mid-rib, in the same plant. Outer phyllaries recurved both in flower-bud and in flower; inner phyllaries adpressed below, recurved above in the fully expanded flower, simple or gibbous and appendaged at apex at the dark purple apex in the same capitulum. Corolla yellow, striped dull purplish beneath in the outer florets. Anthers yellow. Style and its two recoiled branches darker yellow than corolla. Fruit-receptacle flattish-convex. Achenes brown, spinulose-muricate at the apex.
