Habitat: Grassy roadside
Description: Plants in full flower, unripe fruit and sparingly in ripe fruit. Leaves dark green and not spotted above, pale green beneath, with a green mid-rib. Outer phyllaries recurved both in flower-bud and in flower; inner phyllaries adpressed adpressed below, recurved above in the fully expanded flower, simple, gibbous and appendaged at the dark purple apex in the same capitulum. Corolla [yellow?] striped dull purplish beneath in the outer florets. Anthers yellow. Style and its two recoiled branches darker yellow than the corolla. fruit-receptacle flattish-convex. Achenes, spinnulose-muricate at apex.
