Habitat: Mayan ruins, rainforest
Description: Herb. Stem short, woody-like with scars of older leaves. Leaves waxy on the upper side, paler green on the underside. Young leaves with abundant red hairs on the under side. Pedicel of the inflorescence long, hairy and bright dark pink. Male flowers with white petals and bright yellow stamens. Female flowers with white petals, pink at the base, with bright yellow stigmas. Bracts pinkish. Fruits and wings green, pink when mature.
Miscellaneous notes: Growing on one of the highest (37-40m) stone ruin structures of Caana Mayan Temple. Totally exposed to the sun. Plants grouped together forming a very clear population. Growing with other herbs, in particular Solanaceae.
