Description: Plants in full flower and sparingly in fruit. Leaves green and not spotted above, pale green beneath, with a green midrib. Outer phyllaries recurved both in flower-bud and in the fully expanded flower; inner phyllaries adpressed below, recuvred above in the fully expanded flowers, simple or gibbous and appendaged at the dark purple apex in the same capitulum. Corolla yellow, striped greenish-purplish beneath in the outer floret. Antehrs yellow. Style and its two recoiled branches darker yellow than the corolla. Fruit-receptacle flattish-convex. Achenes olive-brown, spinnulose-muricate at the apex.
