Habitat: Highly degraded landscape in a steep NW facing gulley below open-cast quarry. Severe run off in heavy rains due to deforestation has resulted in a very sparse vegetation cover.; Vegetation: Rhododendron, Juniperus oxycedrus, both scattered. Osmunda regalis along side stream.
Description: Multi-stemmed shrub to 1 m. Leaves with slightly revolute margins. Some old fruits persisting.
Miscellaneous notes: This subsp. of R.ponticum is critically endangered in Lebanon and known from only 4/5 locations. In all cases the habitat is degraded to some degree and each location does not cover more than 100 sq meters.
