Collecting locality: Belize:Toledo:Deep River Forest Reserve North; ~8.5 km west of Southern Highway along BFREE access road, ~500 m north of access road.

Habitat: Fringe between pine savanna woodland & broadleaf gallery forest. Pine savanna woodland with frequent Pinus caribaea 20 m (<5%) & rare Vochysia hondurensis 15 m; shrub layer of abundant Tripsacum latifolium, frequent Acoelorraphe wrightii 3-5 m, Byrsonima crassifolia 5 m, occasional Quercus oleoides 8 m. Partially burnt recently (1.5 month previously). Gallery forest with abundant Xylopia frutescens & Vochysia hondurensis.
Description: Abundant small tree 4 m; mature fruit deep red-magenta to c.1.5 x 1 cm, 4 sepals.
