Habitat: Scattered among low scrub on steep alpine grass slope.
Description: Flowers purple, nodding. Involucral bracts deep purple, covered with long bristly hairs. Ray florets 0. Hairs of the pappus minutely barbellate, not white. Leaves much divided, with scattered hairs along the veins beneath.
Miscellaneous notes: The flowers closely resemble those of No. 9861 but are much smaller, leaves quite different.
