Miscellaneous notes: Prodr. 1:710 (1824). Phytogeogr. value: A Mediterranean species, penetrating into the Sundano-Deccanian region. Occurs in Palestine in all parts of Mediterranean territories. A freguent component of Cistetum salviaefolii. Its occourrence in tropical Arabia and Abyssinia is probably due to introduction; commonaly used by natives as a house-plant for its pungent odour.
