Habitat: Pinus sylvestris forest on shallow peat soils. Picea abies, Sorbus aucuparia and Betula pendula scattered. Ground vegetation dominated by R.tomentosum, with Vaccinium uliginosum subsp. uliginosum frequent throughout.
Description: Suckering shrub to 1 m tall, foliage generally restricted to the upper third of the stems. Linear leaves to 4cm long by 4 mm wide, strongly revolute, undersides and young shoots covered in a dense ferruginous indumentum. Current years seed ripening, old seed heads from last year persistent.
