Habitat: Growing chiefly among thin turf and against rocks on dry open slopes in poor rocky sandy soil
Description: Flowers clear mauve to violet in close flattened heads to 2' across. No scent heads hairy inclined to grey. Stems wiry, prostrate raying from near crown to 12' long making loose mats to several feet across where plants intertwine
