Habitat: Area farmed <16 yrs previously. Thick leaf litter on limestone bedrock.; Vegetation: Tropical, evergreen broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant. Cohune ridge dominated by young Attalea cohune, Cupania belizensis & Sabal mauritiiformis.
Description: Very common tree, 19.75m tall with 8 trunks between 5 & 15cm dbh. Dark soft bark with deep longitudinal grooves.
