Habitat: Cloud forest.
Description: Terrestrial shrub to 3 m long. Leaves in whorls of 3-5, mucilaginous & red when newly unfolding. Rachis, floral bracts & bracteoles pale yellowish-green. Pedicel & calyx orangish-red; corolla orangish-red lower 2/3; yellowish-green upper 1/3 limb & lobes white.
