Habitat: Vegetation: Páramo dominated by Espeletia shultzii
Description: Epiphytic or terrestrial shrub with stems 5 cm in daimeter and 4 m tall; rachis, floral bracts, bracteoles, pedicels, calyx and lower 3/4 of corolla bright dark waxy red, upper 1/4 of corolla pale yellowish-white; floral bracts concave and nearly perpendicular to rachis at anthesis; corolla fleshy, 2-3 mm thick; filametns white; anthers golden yellow. Corollas infested with mites.
