Collecting locality: Colombia:Departamento de Antioquia:Yarumal-Valdivia road, km 122, ca. 10 kms N of Yarumal. Steep roadside slopes and remnant forest.
Description: Terrestrial shrub to 3 m tall; leaves thick, coriaceous, brittle; petioles & base of leaf veins red; floral bracts red, punctated with yellow glands; pedicels & calyx rose-red at anthesis with bright yellow glands; basal 3/4 of corolla bright glossy red, upper 1/4, limb & lobe white. Locally abundant.
