Collecting locality: Colombia:Departamento de Boyacá:El Humbo, 130 miles due north of Bogota.
Habitat: In high forest.
Description: Height 100-150 ft, diameter 2-4 ft. Flowers with very sweet odour, six dark purple petals fading to marble white at base, flower has a hinged lip mauve in colour, stamens are creamish yellow.
Miscellaneous notes: Bark of tree is similar to English wer. Tree carries seed pod as large as a man's head- used by natives to carry corn-Coffee, etc.
