Habitat: Steep slopes. Mostly open, fire-prone area in the mixed evergreen/pine forest; granite bedrock.
Description: Erect, branching, slightly bardened herb up to 1.5 m tall; stems green and turning bronw; leaf areas, infructescence areas, pods green; leaflets dark green above, light greenish underneath.
