Habitat: Primary rainforest on ridges and steep slopes
Description: Emergent staraight boled tree. Branches +/- whorled and angled upwards. Buttressed to 4 ft. Crown very irregular. Height 120 ft. Bole 60 ft.Bark yellow brown, flaking into long flaccid strips. Under bark reddish, inner bark red with occasional pale streaks, fibrous, 1/2 in. Wood straw, fibrous, darkening wiht iron, hard; cut twigs eventually exude copious jelly like resin at cambium. Fruit green; wing margin undulate. fruit flat on one side & raised on the other. Many seedlings present. Cotyledons very broadly obovate retuse.
