Habitat: Lowland rain forest
Description: Medium sized tree, crooked. Height 60 ft. Bole 15 ft. d.b.h. 12 ins. Bark 1/2 in. thick. Rough, shaggy, irregular flakes. Outer bark dark greenish-brown, under bark fawn. Inner bark tough and fibrous, beefy red in colour with fawn streaks. Blaze cream in colour with red 'flame like' flares darkening on exposure. Sapwood straw brown in colour. Moderately hard and heavy, fissile, interlocked grain. Leaves dark green above, pale green below. Raised mid-rib and raised side veins, pale yellow in colour, most conspicuous below. Mature fruit'cherry red' in colour. Fleshy endocarp containing single, hard, ridged seed.
