Habitat: Open hillside or in partial shade in coniferous forest.
Description: Shrub of up to 12 ft. Leaves olive-green above, fawn indumentum beneath. Calyx minute, green. Corolla varies from white to pink and pale mauve, spotted internally dark purple, especially on upper side of corolla. Filamnets white, pilose at base. Anthers brown. Style white, stigma brown, ovary green, slightly hairy at frst becoming glabrous.
