Collecting locality: Brazil:Bahia:Serra do Curral Feio, 8km NW of Lagoinha (5.5km SW of Delfino) on the road to Minas do Mimoso. Caatinga/cerrado, frequently burnt and cut over.

Description: Spindly shrub to 3m, often smaller. Stems brown below with conspicuous scattered paler lenticels. Leaves weekly aromatics, rather dull green above, paler beneath, rugose. Upper stems on flowering shoots glaucous with waxy bloom, and usually with only a single conspicuously, swollen internode. Calyx blachish-purple, paler in base of upper lobes with darker pattern of lines. Fruiting calyx deflexed.
