Collecting locality: Brazil:Bahia:Serra das Almas, middle and upper slopes of the Pico das Almas, ca. 25 km WNW of the Villa do Rio de Contas.

Habitat: Sandstone conglomerate metamorphic & quartzite rock outcrops with associated scrubby vegetation with damp flushes, grassland & marsh in some areas. This plant growing among rocks on ridge below summit ridge.
Description: Rather untidy shrub ca. 1m. Leaves aromatic with scent of Eucalyptus. Leaces dark green glistening above, paler and slightly grey green beneath, with midrib beneath often purple-tinged. Bracts soft, deep pinkish-red. Corolla birght orange-red. Lower lip of corolla spoon-shaped.
