Habitat: Disturbed lowland rain forest on alluvium
Description: Slender tree 24m x 45cm, buttressed and stilt-rooted to 1.5m. Bark light grey-brown, covered with small pustular lenticels on one side of the trunk in vertical rows; outer bark thin, bright chestnut brown on the back; under-bark dark red, light green under lenticels; inner-bark straw. Some vertical sucker-shoots present, old leaves on these die yellow; canopy leaves light green, arranged in plagiotropic sprays. Racemes in creamy masses behind the leaves. Sepals 5, creamy. Petals 5, creamy-white. Disk pale orange. Stamens falling quickly; anthers grey-brown, held close to the ovary. Ovary light greenish. Fallen fruits ellipsoid, dull bluish when fresh; stones sharp-tuberculate.
