Holotype of Mediocalcar umboiense Schuit.

Description: Epiphyte, stems often reddish brown, creeping, rooting from basal nodes, roots puberlous, pinkish brown, leaves 3, produced in an apical whorl, thick, slightly recurved, 20 x 6 mm - 20 x 9 mm, oblong, the broadest of leaves narrowly elliptic, apex obscurely trifid, narrowly into 1 mm long petiole. Flowers produced simply, obliquely spherical saccate, bright orange, tips of sepals and petals and labellum yellow, strongly reflexed.
