Habitat: Subalpine volcanic floor with sandy soils; Vegetation: Dense tussock grasses and Aciphylla
Description: Tough perennial herb from dense crown of crowded leaf bases ; crowns solitary or in groups of 2 or 3. Female flowering spikes to 1.2m, male spikes smaller. Leaves glaucous green but the degree of glaucousness is variable with some almost green. Sap clear. (Probably an undescribed species; stipules very odd.)
