Primula calliantha var. nuda Farrer ex W.W.Sm.
Type of Primula calliantha var. nuda Farrer ex W.W.Sm.
Collector/Expedition: Farrer, Reginald John
Collection number: 1721
Collection date: 14th July 1920
Country/Territory: Myanmar
Collecting locality: Myanmar:Upper Burma:all the passes
Description: Here it abounds vastly on the heights, sheeting the upper lawns in colour, like the Arthritics?(sic) of Europe. It varies like them too, in tones of of vinous amethyst or lavender; and though the lobes are ususally entire, specimens occur (see series) in which they are erose-dentate
Miscellaneous notes: My note of protest on F.1557 (P. calliantha) was quite sound - but for the fact that the whole series these alps represents, not P. calliantha at all, but the almost exactly similar, but efarinose P. nuda, which last year I only once saw & only in seed.
