Description: Tree, to 45m tall, 80 cm diameter with small buttresses. Bark smooth lenticellate pale brown, becoming scaly-lenticellate; inner bark pale brown; wood pale yellow. Branches on saplings horizontal, somewhat grouped in tiers on stem. Leaves long elliptic to obovate, margin wavy, to 55cm long, 20cm wide, midrib on lower surface densely covered with pale long appressed hairs, apex abruptly caudate. Stipules encircling the twig, large, rapidly drying purple brown, with tufts at pale brown hairs scattered on the outer side. Fruits roughly globose, 5 shouldered, 2-5 cm across when mature, the caylx cup completely enclosing the nut, purpleish brown with coarse lenticels all over, with the apex. Remains of corolla on some fruit with narrowly obovate lobes about 3cm long and pale velvety hairy on outer surface
