Description: Shrub to large veteran tree according to exposure and fate in the grass fires. Many in full bloom. Flowers of an intense glowing scarlet, no spots. The leaf buds exude a sticky white gum under leaf surface, pure white, the indumentum looser than the form found below 5000ft.
Miscellaneous notes: Found at extreme summit with Q. semicarpaefoia the hardiest and most fire-resistant tree.
