Habitat: Mossy temperate rain forest, amoungst R. grande, R. arizelum etc
Description: Shrub or tree to 45 feet; trunk up to 2 feet in diameter, smooth or peeling, only tree devoid of moss; flowers red more or less spotted (nearly all shed); growth buds well advanced; does not flower until it reaches about 15 feet; leaves not glaucous underneath, always under 5 inches long, glabrous; fairly abundant; trunk grey turning to red on mature plants
