Habitat: Upper alpine region.
Description: A broad spreading bush of 2-4 feet; flowers variable in many shades of salmon and scarlet. Leaf reverse usually white but often of a dirty dark ash colour. Pedicels glandular. Fleshy corolloid calyx-process very in the same colour as the flowers. This is no true calyx however since when the corolla falls this also after lingering a little comes off too in separate portions like deciduous petals
