and Fauna: South bank of river Otun, c. 250 m downstream (West)
of the bridge near base camp.
4°43'53" N, 75°34'43" W Alt: 1879m
Dense riverbank vegetation dominated by Poaceae, in secondary
forest, top stratum 10-15 m. River 10 m wide, fast-flowing at the
time.
Herbacious climber, on Melastomataceae tree up to 10 m high.
Stem 0.4 cm across, dark purplish brown. Petiole 8 x 0.3 cm, green.
; Lamina 17 x 15 cm, cordate and widely ovate, dull darkish green
\ above with leathery feel, dull light green and rough beneath. Petals
‘ orange-yellow. Fruit two-tone, dark purplish red and pale green.
