Watson Stann Creek: Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, 12 km camp on Victoria Peak trail. 200 m 16°47'43" N, 88°32'24" W Common large forest floor herb; petioles 3m long; inflorescence yellow/orange bracts and flowers, from base of petioles approx. 75cm. Ants residing with petiole base sheath. Tropical, broadleaf lowland moist forest over granite. Valley floor, canopy dominated by Simarouba glauca, Attalea cohune & Spondias radlkoferi. Growing in disturbed area on valley floor with Heliconia spp. & Cecropia sp.
