ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN wi 0 E00940935 HERB. HORT. EDINB. % Flora of Belize Melastomataceae Clidemia D. Don Stann Creek: Sittee River Forest Reserve, Mount Mossy, on ridge-top to north of summit; ~6km southwest of Middlesex and the Hummingbird Highway, immediately south of a tributary of South Branch of the North Stann Creek river. 900 m 16°58'27" N, 88°32'52" W Locally frequent shrub 2.5 m; magenta glandular hairs; pale blue berries. Submontane hilltop forest to 15 m dominated by Purdiaea belizensis, Clusia sp., Euterpe precatoria, Cyrilla racemiflora, Ternstroemia tepezapote, Colpothrinax cookii and Dendropanax arboreus. Understory dominated by Anthurium sp., Psychotria elata & Synecanthus fibrosus. All trees covered in mosses & epiphytes, leaf litter is thick & spongy. Granite bedrock.
