Vernay-Cutting Expedition to North Burma Ericaceae » iff 2H Rhododendron eclecteum Balf.f. & Forrest Myanmar (Burma). Nyetmo Pass, N. face. 9500 ft. Along the river bank, Abies forest. Common. A good sized shrub. Leaves oblong- curled up. Flowers crimson or red. Bud scales sticky, and lepidote flowers quite glabrous. Anthers crimson. Flowers 5-6 in a truss. Leaves with fine pubescence on underside of leaf, pale (probably due to minute rods of wax). The leaves are variable in shape, from oblong to rounded. The flower bud is sharply pointed instead of rounded - unusual. 19 Jan 1939 F.
