Large herb, 1.5 to 2. 438 m. Infloresces erect, taller than the leaves. Leaf blades very shiny beneath, margins red. Midrib floccose at base of blade. Inflorescence spirally twisted, bracts orange, the flowers green. Ripe fruit navy blue to black.
