Germantown, Middlebrook district; NE loop of clover-leaf junction (junct. 13 B) of rte. 270 and Middlebrook Road; remnant of natural woodland (I startled a deer) with stream; 39° 10'30”N, 77° 14’ 50”W. Tree 8 m high, leafless; corolla tube violet, lobes lilac-blue, with two white longitudinal ridges on palate. Commonly seen N of Washington in this sort of degraded woodland habitat, said by Dan ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN Nicolson to be increasing. EDINBURGH ANI EX HERB, HORE BOT REG.
