Taiwan: On Hehuan peak trail following a narrow ridge up
towards the east peak of Hehuan Shan, Taroko National Park,
Hualien Co.
Lat/Long: 24° 8° 9" N 121° 16° 44" E
Alt.: 3230m
Habitat: frequent in a poor seed year with good seed only at the
base of one plant, in sun on dry gravelly light soil over
sedimentary rock on a very steep east facing alpine
mountainside dominated by Yushania niitakayamensis, with
scattered Juniperus squamata, Berberis morrisonense, and
Rosa transmorrisonensis,
Description: An evergreen shrub to 1m x 2.5m, locally
