Habitat: infrequent in shade on moist stony volcanic soil over
sedimentary rock on a steep south facing hillside of dense
evergreen broadleaf forest with ardisia sieboldii, Elaeocarpus
sylvestris, Machilus thunbergii, Eurya sp., and Hydrangea
angustipetala
