Flowers bright purple without other marks. Pedicel~and style
crimson. (The flow ers are practically over but I found a single
unwithered one). Leaves aromatic, laxly lepthdote on both
surfaces. Pedicel and calyx laxly lepidote, ovary densely SO,
style glabrous. On bare ledges of granite cliffs, fully
exposed, where it forms peffectly flat mats with Cassiope and
other species. Cf. 5876 collected in Tibet, 1924. These two
seem to be closely allied. (Purple Emperor). 21/10/26. This
species is just coming into bloom for the second time, rather
feebly. 9/6/26. Ward 6884"'>
