It is almost certainly from Staten Island (ie. Isla de los Estados, Tierra del Fuego,Argentina) and collected by Archibald Menzies when he visited that locality in February 1778. A smaller example of the species is on his own herbarium sheet (see in this same folder. ) The specimen on the right collected on Capt.P.P.King’s voyage is correctly localised (ie. from the Straits of Magellan. ) Eric W.
